St Joseph’s Hospice, Hackney has received a grant of £2,467 from the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London Freemasons, one of 237 grants donated to hospices in England and Wales this year. The grant comes through the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF), and will be used for the general running costs of the Hospice.

Each year St Joseph’s Hospice cares for more than 6,500 people with terminal or life limiting illness through personal contact in East London, and helps more than 12,000 people who telephone seeking practical advice, guidance and support. As only 56% of funding comes from the NHS, grants such as these are vital to help keep the hospice running.

Roisin McLaughlin, Head of Major Giving at St Joseph’s Hospice said “We’re very grateful to the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London Freemasons for their generous grant, which will be used to fund our ongoing running and programme costs, providing the people of East London and the City of London with excellent end of life care, free of charge.”
